New Year’s Resolution to help your loved one be healthier

TAKE 20 MINUTES EACH DAY TO BETTER YOURSELF IN 2017

Let’s make a resolution to help someone we love, become healthier.  You might be thinking this is a selfless act on our part. But actually, it’s a very selfish act because it will benefit us ten-fold.

Knowing it’s our mission, we’ll take it very seriously and quitting will not be an option. Not only will we become healthier, but the person we love will become healthier and happier. You know what that means? Who’s the hero here? We are!

The perfect plan to start a healthy New year.

The hard part will be convincing that person that this change will benefit you both. My protege’ (the one I love) sometimes lets the stresses in life get to a point where it’s very unhealthy. The holidays are great and can be lot’s of fun with the people you love. They can also be not so great, especially if you’re the type of person who wants to please everyone.  The holidays can bring stress and that’s not healthy. I despise stress. It’s on the other team and I’m the coach of this team.

The New Year Game Plan:

Insist on meditation once a week.  A scheduled time to sit in stillness for at least 20 minutes. We may have done this once or twice together in the past 25 years. I’ve been dabbling with meditation for over a year now. I’m hoping to make it a habit we both enjoy. We won’t be able to do it together all the time. So I’ll have to insist to my loved one, that they must stick to the plan.

The next thing will be to begin yoga classes once a week. Stretching and staying limber gets higher on my list as I get older. I also have more experience with yoga than my protege’.  That’s why I’m the coach. Really our only job as a coach is to get the ball rolling.

Those are my two things. You can choose whatever you like. Make sure you’ll both enjoy it and it will benefit you mentally or physically. Usually one compliments the other.

It doesn’t matter if your 400 pounds or your 70 years old. There’s enough info out there to help you learn how to be healthier. Change for the better. Change is good. This positive influence you’re having on your loved one is the change that’s good for the both of you.

Great coaches learn as they go along. They never stop learning and that’s what we will do on our mission of health.

There’s gotta be somebody you love and can help. They’ll trust you enough to make this small change in their life for the better. Our health is #1 on our long list of responsibilities. Be sure to remind them and yourself that- Patience is crucial –  Do not expect overnight success.  Don’t forget, it took you years and years (or decades and decades) to get you to where you are currently.  It could take years and years before you reach your new “fate.”

This will not be easy.

We are helping the people we love,  this helps to ease the pain of that dreadful word we call CHANGE.

It’s an end to one year and the beginning of another. A fresh beginning filled with new healthy adventures.
